What can I expect in a workplace injury consultation?

To manage your injury, we start by taking a thorough history of your complaint and current work activities, we then go through a physical examination to determine the cause of your pain. Once the cause has been identified we use a combination of manual therapy techniques to help ease your pain and increase function. We then discuss your ongoing management plan and set goals or milestones to achieve along the way. You will also receive a questionnaire relating to your injury this helps us set a baseline for your injury to measure the efficacy of your treatment plan.

Between appointments, you’ll also receive some home-based rehab that focuses on rebuilding strength and increasing your mobility this is aimed at reducing the risk of your injury reoccurring.

Do I need a referral to see an Osteopath for a WorkSafe Victoria claim?

No, you do not need a referral to see an osteopath under the WorkSafe Victoria Scheme, but please have all the details of your work incident and your WorkSafe claim number.

Can you provide a certificate of Capacity to work if I am unable to return?

Not initially, the first certificate of capacity needs to be completed by your GP, subsequent certificates can be completed by your osteopath. We are also very happy to work with your GP and case manager to help you plan your return to work or modify your current work duties as needed.

Is there an out of pocket expense for an Osteopathic consultation under WorkSafe Victoria?

Yes, at Wellness Osteo we do charge a gap fee for our Worksafe consultations for new clients this fee is approximately $20 and subsequent appoints are approximately $25.
