Mums and Bubs Classes

Located in Richmond our Mums and Bubs classes are run by Osteopaths with additional training in clinical pilates. These classes are perfect for postpartum mums looking for a safe and supportive environment to get back into exercise.

Designed for postpartum women, these classes focus on building strength, flexibility, and endurance in a safe and supportive environment. Injury history and physical capabilities are considered, and modifications to exercises are available.

What to expect in our Mums and Bubs Classes

Utilising reformers, mats and simple equipment (such as hand held weights and resistance bands) our Osteopaths will guide you through a sequence of exercises for 50 minutes with a focus on rebuilding strength, flexibility, and endurance.

Conducted in a warm and friendly studio, these classes are a great opportunity for new mums to socialise.

We welcome babies and toddlers to be present in an effort to remove barriers for attendance. We have space for prams, a change table, and a private room in case participants need some time out.

Our classes are great for:

  • pelvic instability
  • symphysis pubis dysfunctions
  • lower back pain
  • repetitive stress injuries
  • rib pain
  • rectus diastasis
  • neck and shoulder pain

In addition to our rehabilitation based classes our Osteopaths can help address these conditions and offer lifestyle and home advice. Please note Mums and Bubs classes are run from our Richmond location only.

Mums & Bubs FAQ's

Interested in our Mums and Bubs classes but not sure what to expect? Keep reading below!

  • How soon after birth can I start Pilates?

Each body is different but generally 6 weeks post birth, if you have had a complicated pregnancy or birth then we may request medical clearance prior to you starting.

  • Do I need to have had Pilates experience before?

Not at all, we love introducing new clients to Pilates and will ensure we take the time to instruct you safely with a particular focus on technique

  • How old can my bub be to join Mums and Bubs Pilates

Every baby is different so rather than specifying an age we like to consider safety. If your little one is generally happy to sit in a pram, bouncer, or carrier then they are more than welcome to attend. If they’re a little more active then it’s probably best not to attend as it can be unsafe to have them mobile within the studio.

  • How much do Mums and Bubs classes cost?

    Individual classes are $40

    A 6 class pass is $225

    A 10 class pass is $350

  • What happens if my Baby starts crying during the class?

That’s totally fine! Babies cry, we get it. You can simply stop and comfort your baby. Where possible we’ll modify your exercises to include bubs until they settle. If you need to stop and feed that’s fine too, we have plenty of space for you to do that. We’re flexible we’ll make it work.
