Our ergonomic assessment will assist your team in understanding and complying with work health and safety legislation. We provide individual assessments and reports to reduce the risk of injury in the workplace.

Wellness Osteo offers one-on-one sessions both in house (workplace only) and via video call to assess your workstation. Employers have a duty of care to provide a safe working environment whether at home or in the office. Our ergonomic assessments are aimed at reducing the risk of injury while at work.

What is ergonomics?

Ergonomics is the process of designing workspace, products or systems for optimum functional use. This includes the immediate working environment like a workstation but also the wider working space like lighting, ventilation, and tripping hazards.

What are the benefits of an ergonomic assessment?

The key goal with ergonomic assessments is to reduce the risk of injury while at work. For employers this may assist in addressing the duty of care that they have in providing a safe working environment for all employees.

Additionally employees who are uncomfortable are less likely to be productive, reach key performance indicators, and use additional sick days to manage and treat their pain.

Workers who have duties that involve sitting at a desk, awkward working postures, poorly designed workspace, and sedentary work behaviours are at risk of developing:

  • Neck pain
  • Lower back pain -disc injuries, muscle strains and joint sprains
  • Sciatica – lower back, gluteal, and leg pain
  • Headaches – jaw pain and migraines
  • Shoulder pain – muscle strains, postural fatigue, and immobility
  • Elbow tendinopathies – golfer’s elbow, tennis elbow and carpal tunnel

What does an ergonomic assessment involve?

Our ergonomic assessment start off with a brief discussion with the employee to understand their frequent works tasks and any concerns they may have. We then set about understanding their workstation and duties by reviewing:

  • Desk height and position
  • Chair adjustments
  • Screen height and positioning
  • Screen placement
  • Use of mouse, keyboard and other accessories
  • Individual task analysis
  • Environmental concerns relating to trip hazards, lighting and ease of access

Each employee then receives an individual report outlining our recommendations. We may also prescribe some simple and cost-effective strategies that can be implemented to address these concerns. This may include equipment recommendations and activity modification.

At Wellness Osteo we want your team to be actively involved in their work health, we ensure that each employee understands the ergonomic demands of their duties and provide each employee with an individual web based rehabilitation program that includes stretches and strengthening exercises.
