Clinical exercise rehabilitation is a form of specific strength and conditioning training. Each program is specific to the individual and changes regularly to meet the goals of the client.

What is Clinical Exercise Rehabilitation?

Clinical exercise rehabilitation is a form of specific strength and conditioning training. These sessions are carefully designed and run by our Osteopaths who have undergone additional training in prescribing and teaching exercises that will improve our patients function, fitness and reduce the risk of re-injury.

Clinical exercise rehabilitation provides a clear framework to recover from injury and prevent that injury from reoccurring.  By specifically strengthening problem areas, and retraining functional activities our risk of injury and re-injury significantly decreases.

Is clinical exercise rehab different from personal training?


Clinical exercise has a specific focus on rehabilitation, this is particularly useful when recovering from, and preventing injuries. Our Osteopath assess and design a program specific to each client, this means we understand your injury, your current capacity and what goals you would like to achieve.


This tailored approach allows you to continue or resume training with minimum risk of reaggravating the injury and delaying your return to sport or your usual activities.









Our clinical exercise classes are designed to focus on doing the correct exercises, with optimal technique and at the correct intensity and duration.


Personal trainers are great and work really well with a healthy uninjured client group. However, if you are recovering from injury, it can be useful to have your current training capacity reviewed by a qualified osteopath who has a deeper understanding of musculoskeletal conditions.

What can I expect in my first clinical exercise rehabilitation session?


Your clinical rehab journey at Wellness Osteo will begin with an initial assessment by one of our Osteopaths. This allows us to fully understand your pre-existing injuries, areas of weakness/restriction and help determine specific performance movement goals that you might have. Once we have a clear picture of your current capacity our Osteopaths will design a specific and safe exercise program for your individual needs.


Following your initial assessment your Osteopath will take you through your specific exercise program, focusing on teaching correct technique that will address your strength and movement deficits.









For optimal engagement of clinical rehab we suggest 2 sessions per week, with each session lasting 50 minutes.


Once we feel that you have a good understanding of your current rehab plan you can progress from 1 on 1 sessions to group classes alongside up to 2 others.


It is important to understand that clinical rehab is not forever. In most cases training blocks of 6, 8 or 12 weeks are desirable for achieving the outcomes you need.


From this point onwards we want to arm you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to continue exercising in your preferred method.
